Pasty Hunter — Terms of Service

1. Who we are

Pasty Hunter (“the Service”, “we”, “us”) is a free web application operated by James Garforth (“the operator”) that lets users rate and review Cornish pasties from different traders. The Service is provided on a personal, non-commercial basis.

2. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2a. Age restriction

The Service is for users aged 18 and over only. We do not operate an age gate at sign-up — by creating an account, you confirm that you are 18 or older.

3. The Service

Pasty Hunter allows registered users to:

• Rate pasties on overall quality, size, taste and price
• Log the price paid and add written reviews
• View their own consumption history, spend totals and related statistics

The Service is provided free of charge, “as is”, with no guarantee of uptime, accuracy, or continued availability. We may modify, suspend or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, at any time without notice or liability.

4. User accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information when registering and notify us promptly of any unauthorised use.

5. User-generated content

5.1 Ratings, reviews, and any other content you submit (“User Content”) remain your responsibility. By submitting User Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, store and distribute it within the Service.

5.2 You agree not to submit User Content that is:

• False, defamatory, or misleading about a specific trader or individual
• Abusive, harassing, or discriminatory
• Unlawful, infringing on third-party rights, or in breach of any applicable law

5.3 We do not verify, endorse, or take responsibility for the accuracy of any User Content, including ratings, reviews, or prices logged by users. Opinions expressed in reviews are those of the individual user, not of Pasty Hunter or its operator.

5.4 We reserve the right, but have no obligation, to remove or edit any User Content at our discretion, including in response to a complaint from a trader or third party.

5.5 Takedown requests. If you believe content on the Service is defamatory, inaccurate, or otherwise objectionable, contact us at support@pastyhunter.com with details, and we will review and respond within a reasonable time.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to access, tamper with, or disrupt the Service’s systems or data
• Scrape or harvest data from the Service without permission
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach this section.

7. Privacy

Our collection and use of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

8. Disclaimers

8.1 The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, and non-infringement.

8.2 We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any defects will be corrected.

8.3 Ratings and reviews reflect the opinions of individual users and are not verified by us. We make no representations about the quality, safety, or suitability of any trader, product, or pasty referenced on the Service.

9. Limitation of liability

9.1 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:

• Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
• Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
• Any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law

9.2 Subject to clause 9.1, to the fullest extent permitted by law:

• We exclude all liability for indirect, special, or consequential loss, including loss of profit, business, or data, arising from your use of the Service, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), or otherwise.
• Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from or relating to the Service shall not exceed £50 (fifty pounds sterling), reflecting that the Service is provided free of charge.

9.3 We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from User Content, including reviews or ratings posted by other users, or from your reliance on such content when choosing a trader or product.

9.4 We are not liable for any loss arising from downtime, data loss, or discontinuation of the Service.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against any claims, losses, or expenses arising from your breach of these Terms or your User Content, except to the extent caused by our own negligence.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for breach of these Terms or at our discretion. You may delete your account at any time via account settings.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be flagged within the Service where practicable.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
